Whether it’s your first session or your fiftieth, a little intentionality goes a long way. Here are some practical ways to make sure you walk away from every reading feeling like it was truly worthwhile.
Set a clear intention beforehand
Before your session, take a few minutes to think about what you’re hoping to gain. It doesn’t have to be a specific question. Sometimes an intention is as simple as “I want clarity on where things are headed” or “I’d like to understand what’s blocking me.” Having even a loose sense of direction helps your Advisor focus and makes the conversation more meaningful.
Choose the right time
Try to book your reading at a time when you’re not rushed or distracted. Squeezing in a session between meetings or obligations makes it hard to be fully present, and presence really does affect the quality of the experience. Give yourself a window where you can settle in before and decompress afterward.
Start the session grounded
Take a few slow breaths before your session begins. If your mind is racing, spend a moment quieting it. The more settled and open you feel going in, the easier it is for your Advisor to connect with your energy and for you to receive what comes through.
Be specific when you can
Vague questions tend to produce vague answers. If you have something specific on your mind, don’t be afraid to name it. You don’t need to give away every detail, but being clear about what you’re seeking helps your Advisor go deeper rather than staying at the surface.
Stay engaged during the session
If something resonates, say so. If something isn’t landing, it’s okay to let your Advisor know. A reading is a two-way experience, and your feedback helps your Advisor refine and redirect their focus. You’re not expected to sit quietly and just receive. Participating actively often leads to the most insightful sessions.
Don’t try to lead the reading
There’s a balance between being engaged and trying to steer the session toward a specific outcome. If you go in hoping to hear a particular answer, it can be easy to unconsciously push the conversation in that direction or dismiss what doesn’t match your expectations. Stay curious and try to receive what comes through before evaluating it.
Take notes
It’s surprisingly easy to forget the details of a reading once it’s over, especially if a lot came through. Writing down key points during or right after your session gives you something to return to later. Many clients find that notes from a session become more meaningful over time as things unfold in their lives.
Reflect before booking your next session
Give yourself some time after a reading to sit with what was shared. Jumping straight into another session before you’ve had a chance to process the first one can dilute the experience. Use the Mood Tracker, revisit your notes, and let things settle before deciding whether a follow-up feels right.
Be patient with the process
Not every reading will feel like a breakthrough, and that’s okay. Sometimes a session plants a seed that takes time to grow. Approach each reading with patience and an open heart, and trust that what you need to hear has a way of finding you.
